Wisła

The picturesque landscape of Wisła remains for good in the memory of those who come to visit this town. A cosy market square, people smiling brightly ? these will pull at your heartstrings. Wisła is where another world begins ? the world of relaxation, smile, human contact with nature.

The Silesian Beskid is beautiful at any time of the year. Wisła provides its guests with unforgettable views extending along the 150 km of picturesque tourist trails. Visitors who prefer lowland walking can choose recreation paths around the Czerniańskie Lake. Another place attracting tourists’ attention is the Rodło Cascades– the most beautiful set of natural waterfalls in the Beskid Mountains. Around the cascades are beautifully grooved pot-holes and monumental spruce and fir trees about 170 years old.

There are perfect conditions for recreation in Wisła in both the winter and the summer. Fans of skiing can choose from over a dozen of ski lifts and ski slopes of various levels of difficulty. From spring to autumn the town constitutes a perfect tourist staging area for those who want to hike the mountains of Czantoria, Stożek, Trzy Kopce Wiślańskie and Barania Góra. For those who prefer to experience something more thrilling, the area offers the possibility of rock climbing, a quad expedition, and, in the winter, a snowmobile expedition. After an exciting day, it is best to have a rest in one of the luxury spa resorts.

The paths of Wisła offer a number of attractions to the visitors interested in history as well. In the Beskid Museum you can learn about the life of the Silesian Highlanders in the past, about their customs and costumes. On the mountainside of Zadni Groń in Wisła Czarne you will find the Presidential Castle, the Polish President’s residence – a splendid building built in the years 1929-1931 for the then President Ignacy Mościcki. Another eye-catching object is located in the Valley of Łabajów – it is a monumental railway viaduct built in 1932, 122 m in length. There are also a number of examples of wooden architecture in Wisła; one of the most interesting is the alpine style Habsburg Hunting Castle – currently the seat of PTTK (Polskie Towarzystwo Turystyczno-Krajoznawcze – Polish Tourist-Sightseeing Society), or an ethnographically unique object, Kocyan's Cottage. The beauty of Wisła has many a time inspired poets and writers. Written word, however, is not enough to reflect the charm of the town in full; to experience the unforgettable atmosphere and fall in love with Wisła, you must simply come here. The Pearl of the Beskid Mountains smilingly welcomes everybody who comes to visits.
