Mountain hikes, cycling tourism, horseback tourism, winter sports, extreme sports, paragliding, Nordic walking or cave exploration ? these are only some of the activities that will enable you to ?charge your batteries? in Szczyrk. Every fan of active leisure will leave this place content and willing to come back! The beautiful scenic surroundings are bound to make every mountain hike perfect. Numerous and well sign-posted and trails will take you to a lot of interesting places of the Silesian Beskid.

In the winter season the area provides visitors with the biggest number of ski trails and lifts in Poland. Most are lit and provided with snow cannons. There are also professional slalom slopes here, officially certified by FIS, as well as a natural sledge slide and the ski jump “Skalite.”

Those who prefer quiet and relaxing leisure activities can also choose from a variety of things to do. Health and beauty spas, swimming pools, salt caves and chambers, recreation paths meandering through charming wooded hills – all these create excellent conditions for relaxation and encourage visitors to forget about their daily cares. It’s also worth to mention the St. Mary’s Sanctuary “On the Hill,” which is an important worship centre in Szczyrk. This is where you can find St. Mary’s Grotto with a healing fountain – a truly magical place, peaceful and quiet, where you can get lost in your thoughts while admiring the beauty of the landscape.

Szczyrk is also a perfect place for all amateurs of Polish cuisine and  the regional cuisine of the Beskid. Numerous restaurants, inns and pubs offer their visitors delicious menu to choose from. The following dishes are a must: sauerkraut soup with spareribs, traditional sour rue soup served in a hollowed bread bowl, wild meat dishes, pork knuckle with cabbage, fried oscypek (smoked cheese made from salted sheep milk) with cranberry, or delicious trout in almonds. Those who prefer hard liquors are welcome to try Beskid honey vodka, and, especially on chilly winter days, mulled wine or beer seasoned with root spices, all recommended by restaurant professionals.

At the same time Szczyrk has a wide entertainment offer: a number of events taking place at the Skalite Amphitheatre or by the Town Council, the winter marquee with everyday concerts, the outdoor New Year’s Eve party, discos, dancing parties, pubs, bowling alleys, folk art fairs, live music events, karaoke nights, recitals, vernissages and exhibitions, numerous contests and sports competitions, along with plenty of other exciting activities. All these make the area live all year round!
