Events

Beautiful mountain landscapes and numerous kinds of active leisure are not the only reasons to come to the Beskid Five. Every year there are several events of national or international status in our region.

The biggest event is no doubt the Week of Beskid Culture – a big highlander folklore festival, organized every year, at the beginning of August, since 1964. the festival takes place in several towns, two of them are Szczyrk and Wisła. The event is like no other – it is has a unique character, and its scope, the number of performers, as well as wonderful energetic atmosphere are what makes it different form other such events.

Besides, each municipality of the Beskid Five organises a number of local cultural events which attract tourists from all parts of Poland every year. The time of the year that most abounds in cyclical events is the summer. The annual July events of the Beskid Five are the following: the Days of Istebna, the Provincial Review of Rural Artistic Groups in Brenna, the Concert of Woodwind and Brass Orchestras „Jest w orkiestrach dętych jakaś siła” (“there is certain power in wind orchestras”) in Wisła, the Folk & Country Festival in Ustroń, “Kroćpokowe Święto” and “Jakubowe Święto” in Szczyrk. The main events of August are, apart from the abovementioned Week of Beskid Culture, the concert of folk and folklore bands „Gdzie biją źródła” (“where the springs spurt”) in Ustroń, Summer with the Philharmonic in Wisła as well as a number of events associated with harvest festivals: the Days of Ustroń, the Days of Wisła, the Days of Brenna. 

Furthermore, there are minor cultural and tourist events regularly taking place in the Beskid Five throughout the summer, such as the concerts organised on “Artistic Thursdays” (taking place every Thursday during the summer in the Church of John the Baptist in Brenna), Artistic Cafes in Brenna, Music Evenings at the Ustroń market square (every summer Sunday at 6 p.m.), the Friday Film Club in Szczyrk or the campaign „Przewodnik czeka” (“the guide is waiting”) in Wisła – guided trips for individual tourists on summer Saturdays and Sundays).
