A new dimension of winter

The Beskid 5 is a real skiers paradise in winter: there are 80 ski lifts running in this area and skiers can choose from over 100 ski runs, most of which are groomed and artificially snowed.

One of the advantages of our region is that it offers challenging trails, attractive to experienced skiers, as well as a considerable number of gentle and relatively short trails, suitable for children and beginner skiers.

Experienced skiers and snowboarders will find chair lifts particularly interesting: the four-person chair lift to the top of Czantoria mountain, the lift to the top of Palenica in Ustroń, the chair lift on Stożek in Wisła and a two-stage chair lift to the top of Skrzyczne in Szczyrk, with a change on Jaworzyna mountain. There are also quite a few long (above 700 m) T-bar lifts, such as „Poniwiec” in Ustroń, „Cieńków” in Wisła-Malinka, „Soszów” in Wisła-Jawornik, ski lift complex „Brenna WęgierSKI” and many other ski lifts in Szczyrk.

There is also a network of professional and well prepared cross-country skiing tracks in the area of the Beskid 5. These tracks are maintained by the National Sports Centre and used by sportspeople for Olympic training. They are located on Kubalonka Pass, with the total length of 18 km.

The less advanced amateurs of cross-country skiing are welcome to use a 6 km track leading along the Vistula promenade in Ustroń. The track is prepared for both classic and free/skating techniques. A great advantage of this track is that it can be used in the evenings as well – it is lit along all its length.

The winter in the Silesian Beskid not only creates conditions for skiing – it provides an experience of aesthetic value as well. The visitors get a chance to admire the winter landscape during a kulig (an old Polish winter tradition where a cavalcade of horse-pulled sleighs and sledges go from place to place) accompanied by highlander folk music and, if it takes place in the evening, by the torch light. Another unforgettable adventure is to rent snowshoes and explore the fluffy snow-covered tracks.
